Cannes : 3 things to do & 3 things to NOT do !

As usual (I try ;) before I go to set up goals, like how many; films to see, round tables, cocktails, events to go to etc. The thing I have learnt over time is it all depends on your priorities and why you are going. I used to just go to party and hope I would bump into someone who would just go "your the one for my film" 😂 I know I know, but hey it does happen !
Anyway, back to the priorities.
So when you go to Cannes;
DO NOT just wing it. People who are "people" plan their agendas in advance. People who wing it are at a lower level, and you probably want to bump up your game and meet people who are higher up & doing more. So act like those that work and get things done, they plan.
DO NOT only watch films & party. Cannes like any festival is a place to network and meet wonderful people to co-create but you need to prioristise this.
DO NOT get pissed. Professionals ere everywhere and there's nothing worse than them meeting you when you are out of it, you may even forgoet you met them. And next day hangovers mean you have less energy (and less positive energy) to give people your best and make then want to work with you. It's a trap to think open bars, getting drunk and partying all the time are why you should go. Or do that but forget about making it in the industry. Yes it's a kill joy, sorry.
DO THESE instead ;
ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS; Why am I going? Who do I want to meet? How do I make that happen?
See who is going to the festival, what do they look like so if you do bump into them you can make the most of it. Make a chart with headshots + what they have done and why them may be in Cannes.
PREPARE; business cards, or GR codes, linktree & internet site or IMDb or Instageam UP TO DATE. If someone asks you to send them your project, or your reel, you need to be able to it NOW. Post on social media to say you are going so you can see if others are too..
There is just so much to be done and so much to share about Cannes, and festivals in general, if you want to know more ping me an PM on Insta.
